Program Overview

Throughout this program, you will be encouraged to develop new ways of thinking and learn and practice new skills.
Changing thinking and behaviour is easiest when you go slow, have a chance to put ideas into action, and have support. We meet several times to introduce concepts over time and support you in slowly building your mindset and skill set. You have time to think about and try out the concepts between sessions and the opportunity to discuss what you’ve learned.
MODULE 1 – DEVELOPING YOUR COACHING MINDSET
In coaching, both mindset and skill set play crucial roles in achieving success, yet mindset often serves as the foundation for unlocking the full potential of any skill. While a coach’s skill set provides the tools and techniques needed to guide others, it is their mindset—their attitudes, beliefs, and ways of thinking—that enables them to apply these tools effectively, adapt to the challenges in front of them, and inspire growth in their coachees. This module will help you better understand what coaching is and isn’t, explore your thoughts on coaching, and develop ideas that create a strong foundation for success.
MODULE 2 – DEVELOPING YOUR COACHING SKILL SET
In this module, we dive deeper into some
essential coaching skills: self-awareness, holistic listening, using reflective
statements and affirmations, asking questions, and being curious. Developing these skills will help you
maintain your positive coaching presence and elicit the wisdom within your
coachees.
MODULE 3 – SETTING AND ACHIEVING GOALS THROUGH COACHING
Goals are powerful tools for coaching and behaviour change because they make the transformation process more structured, manageable, and motivating. When effectively utilized, goals become more than mere targets; they become catalysts for self-discovery, strategic planning, and continuous improvement, ultimately driving individuals to unlock their full potential. This module will help you understand how to use goals in your coaching conversations to positively impact your coachee’s success.
MODULE 4 – COACHING PRACTICE
You can read books about bike riding, watch every available tutorial about riding a bike, talk with others about bikes, and spend hours watching experts ride, but you won’t truly learn to ride your bike until you get on it. The same applies to developing your coaching skills. You need to get out there and give it a try. It will take practice before you are proficient, but you can’t become proficient without practice. Like bike riding, it may feel a little nerve-racking at first, and you may “fall” a few times, but eventually, it will “click.” This module gives you additional things to consider as you plan for and practice coaching. You will then spend time practicing coaching to help develop your confidence, understanding, and skills.
MODULE 5 – EXPANDING YOUR WORKPLACE COACHING TOOLBOX
This module offers more ideas and tools to help you address the specific challenges that you will face as a workplace coach. It includes systems thinking frameworks you can use to guide your thinking and conversations and additional guidance for coaching through change and addressing interpersonal and performance issues. It also briefly explores coaching with neurodiversity in mind, addressing the seemingly uncoachable employee, and creating a coaching culture. You will also have time to continue your practice coaching sessions and will be encouraged to use some of the ideas in this module to enhance your outcomes.
What Program Participants Are Saying:
Enrolling in the Coaching Skills for Leaders program was an incredibly positive experience for me. I had been introduced to coaching in a previous leadership course that Jenny also facilitated, where it became one of my favourite topics. This course not only covers the fundamentals of coaching but also goes deeper, offering excellent example questions and frameworks to navigate various situations where coaching can be a valuable tool. Within just a few weeks, I gained significant confidence and started applying what I had learned. Jenny’s ability to balance teaching concepts with real-life examples, neuroscience insights, and active group participation is remarkable. Her kind and encouraging nature fosters a safe space where participants feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and ideas. Her passion for coaching shines through in every session, and her depth of knowledge and expertise is truly inspiring.
